Greetings!

The Kansas City Shock is thrilled to announce the milestone of signing our first coach! It is with great joy that we introduce Nicole Ortiz (neé Cummins) out of Harrisonville, Missouri. She was a four year starter for the varsity soccer team at Harrisonville High School and won various awards including All-State Honorable Mention for two of the four years. After high school she went on to play college soccer at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. While she was at Graceland the team made two National NAIA Tournament appearances and became conference champions during her four years in the Heart of America conference. Nicole graduated with a degree in secondary physical education and health. Upon graduation, Nicole went back to her hometown of Harrisonville, Missouri to teach 8th grade special education and became the assistant varsity coach for the high school girls soccer team for three years. During her time in Harrisonville the team placed fourth in state in 2011 and became conference champions three years in a row. Nicole began coaching club soccer in the summer of 2010 with Kansas City United Soccer Club and Agape Soccer Club. She continues to coach the U11 Attack girls team and the U14 Brass boys team with Kansas City United. Nicole became involved in the Shock after our summer kickoff tournament in July 2012. She is currently a high school physical education teacher and lives with her husband Edson and their 19 month old son, Alessandro in Raytown, Mo.
